Amsterdam

Interesting urbanism and architectural language. Everything is so flat in holland and you can’t even find a single mountain there. Rings of canals are everywhere confusing you and it’s not easy to locate one self. The long street names which dun really make sense to non-dutch just made it worse. The protruding beams and facades of the 1600s house, the glass in the redlight district, the colour facades everywhere, the cantilever no matter whatever building nature or scale . . (the MVRDV’s Wozoco is juz an elderly home…) are some of the elements. It’s an exciting lab for daring architecture for those interested, if they still haven’t got bored after 1 or 2 days.
